Synopsis
The most devastating breakup belongs to Laura. Jacob, her long-time partner, not only abandoned her but did so while she was undergoing cancer treatment. He left her in tears, sent her belongings to her mother’s house, and even denied her the opportunity to audition for his new program, a project she had helped build. His excuse was that he couldn’t be her guardian, and then he disappeared from her life. Laura is taken in by her overprotective friend Mazie, who gives her space to grieve. It’s during a stormy, dark night that Laura encounters Monster. Monster has been lurking in the shadows of her life for years, hiding in her mother’s closet and other dark corners of their home, occasionally coming out to interact with her.
